Tutorial package: Limit Cycle Analysis & Human Gait Analysis

This is a package of two tutorials that where given at Dynamic Walking 2008. The first tutorial is about Limit Cycle Analysis and the second tutorial is about Human Gait Analysis. The tutorials are free to use.

Tutorial Limit Cycle Analysis

The aim of this tutorial is to learn what limit cycles are and how the stability of limit cycles can be determined. For this we use a simulation of very simple walking robot. The tutorial consists of an introduction presentation and an assignment. The introduction presentation is a flash-file that requires a copy of the flash player. The flash player can be downloaded from the Adobe website.

The assignment is a Matlab exercise, for which a copy of Matlab required (6.5 or higher). For the the assignment is an answer-sheet available. All files needed for this tutorial are zipped in one zip-file and this file can be downloaded here:

Tutorial Human Gait Analysis

The aim of this tutorial is to learn about human gait, and how to analyze this. The focus in this tutorial is on muscle function and the role of push-off in human gait. A full example data set is available, including video, kinematic and kinetic data, and electromyography (EMG) of muscle activation patterns. To analyze these data you will need to install MoXieViewer, which can be downloaded from the Moxie website.

For this tutorial you need, besides the MoXieViewer, the following files:
